Get the pack · US$6By bedtime, the body is often ready for sleep before the mind is. We lie down and the mind starts going back over the day, or getting ahead to tomorrow.
That’s normal. The mind is trying to be useful. But sleep is hard to force. It tends to come when we stop trying, when the body softens and there’s nothing left to do.
So these are soft words for the end of the day. I guide you around the senses and through the body, letting each part soften, with long stretches of music so you can drift off whenever you’re ready.
There are four tracks, from around twenty minutes to over half an hour, and a seven-minute As I Drift Away for nights when you want something shorter. Some come in two mixes, with different music behind the same words.

Soft Words for Sleep

Atmospheric ambience · 24 minOriginal mix · 22 min
For when you’re restless at bedtime. It starts with surfing the urges that keep the mind busy, letting them come and go. Then I guide you around the five senses, each time noticing that there’s ‘a you that notices this’, and through the body one part at a time, from the throat down to the soles of the feet. The words grow fewer as you drift towards sleep. The two versions have the same words with different music: an atmospheric ambience, or the original mix.
As I Drift Away

Extended, with chants · 36 minWith pads · 21 minSeven-minute version · 8 min
For letting go of the day, so your future self can deal with tomorrow. After moving through the senses, the words turn to softening, from the forehead and face down to the legs and feet, until ‘everything is soft.’ Then a few affirmations for the night: ‘I choose to restore my body for the following day. It all happens as I drift away.’ The extended version has chants and long spaces of music. The pads version has different music. The seven-minute version starts at the softening.
Mystical Turquoise
23 min
For drifting off on a guided story. In the first person, you walk into an enchanted forest, find a turquoise lake and float in its warm water. The words follow the brain as it slows, from busy beta waves to alpha, theta and then delta, where ‘time stands still.’ It ends at dawn, carrying the memory of the forest into the new day, before the words fade into the music.

For when even meditating feels like too much effort. It invites you to let go of the idea of meditation altogether and simply be, ‘as lazy as you like.’ You notice yourself noticing, let thoughts be thoughts and feelings be feelings, and remind yourself that in your immediate surroundings, all is well. It ends with the breath and a little half smile. The two versions have the same words with different music: the original mix, or an atmospheric ambience.
